Ascent Integrated Tech is pleased to announce a pilot deployment of its on-scene accountability technology with the Indianapolis Fire Department on September 19th. This deployment, guided by the expertise of Battalion Chief and CTO Dale Rolfson, marks a pivotal moment in enhancing the safety and operational effectiveness of firefighters on the ground.
Chief Rolfson, known for his dedication to technological innovation within the fire service, played a critical role in bringing this advanced location tracking technology to the Indianapolis Fire Department. His leadership has been instrumental in the successful implementation of this pilot, which included a testing process with a recruit class of 66 firefighters.
“It was very simple for what Alex was able to do to get us up and running,” said Chief Rolfson. “Just connecting multiple servers and I was impressed with how it worked. We have a recruit class of 66 firefighters in a couple of different units. We did multiple drills and with different firefighters—they didn’t have a problem with the device and just shoved it in their pocket, and it seemed to track very well for us.”
Ascent’s technology equips incident command with real-time location tracking and on-scene accountability, offering essential insights that enhance situational awareness and decision-making during emergencies. Built on the robust Team Awareness Kit (TAK)—a platform widely used by the military—this technology provides dependable performance and integrates seamlessly with existing systems for smooth implementation.
