What comes in the WearTAK Trial Kit?
Your kit includes 4 Samsung Galaxy watches preloaded with WearTAK, and 1 tablet preloaded with ATAK. Everything is pre-configured—just power on and go.
Do I need to pair the watches with a phone or tablet?
No pairing is needed. WearTAK operates as a standalone system. Once powered on and connected to the TAK server, dots appear automatically on your map.
Can I use my own smartwatch?
No. The WearTAK software runs on managed, pre-configured Samsung devices using our secure mobile device management (MDM) system.
Can I use my own tablet?
Yes. You can download an application and login with your credentials.
How long does the battery last?
Each watch lasts 16–18 hours and recharges from 0% to 80% in about 90 minutes.
What happens to the data collected?
Data is processed in real time and never stored beyond a few milliseconds. It is not retained on the device.
What physiological data is tracked?
Heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory rate (RR), oxygen saturation (O₂), and skin temperature. HR is the only data used for alerting today.
What if I don’t want my heart rate tracked?
No problem. You can opt out of physiological monitoring directly from the watch interface.
Can I use this system with other command platforms?
Yes. Inquire for more information.
What if I already wear a personal watch?
Your watch has a plethora of other applications running that when paired with WearTAK would render battery life useless. This is why we suggest a standalone watch.
What’s the durability of the watch in fire environments?
The watch must be worn under turnout gear in IDLH environments. It’s not designed for exposed flame or full submersion.
Can the watch be used in water?
Only shallow water exposure is supported (up to 1 meter). Performance may degrade beyond that.
What’s the warranty and support like?
1-year hardware warranty is included. After 3 years, devices are replaced as part of the hardware lifecycle. Software updates are pushed automatically.
How many watches can be monitored on TAK at once?
Our system supports thousands of devices. The limiting factor is your TAK instance’s device refresh rate and hardware.
Can the watch send data to our own TAK server?
Yes. It can be configured to point to your on-prem or cloud TAK server. Default setup uses our GovCloud-based server.
Can I delete points I’ve dropped?
Yes. Use the map menu to manage and clear dropped points.
Does the SOS button call 911?
No. It sends an alert to all connected TAK devices with your location and callsign. It’s for in-mission use, not external dispatch.
